Happy days for Chanderi Weavers!

Weaving is one of the great art forms which supports lives of weavers world over.  It is a well established fact that weaving all over employs and banks upon tradition, culture and folkways.  And indeed that is the merit and substance upon which weavers make a living.  Not only they make a living out of this art they have deep concern gratitude and respect for their traditional tools techniques that have evolved over a period of time.  With the emergence of new wave of Fashion Designers this art form has bettered the living conditions of many weavers.

Recent article of Purnima Sharma published in Times of India is worth reading.  She has nicely

brought out how with the inputs of Designers, Brands and Export Houses, the Chanderi Weavers have progressed towards modern thinking and better way of living.  Hats off to designers like Garg, Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra who have brought in a fresh air into the gullible lives of Chanderi Weavers.  Many a weavers houses now have TVs, Refrigerators, iPads and mobiles.  Weavers are now able to afford better education to their children.
