The Practice of Medicine has continued to command highest level of support and status from time immemorial in societies through out Globe. Of late the autonomy of the Profession of Doctor seems to be under question. What went wrong. Medical Councils and Associations seem to be under attack for their probable leniency with regard to medical errors. What a price the Profession is paying. Brajesh Pathaks Recommendations on the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill will if accepted, have far reaching impact on the way the profession functions and the way people can question and monitor the way the doctors work and function. Governance of Medical Profession beyond permissible limits will have far reaching effects on the service and devotion of the profession / and the doctors. Let us hope for the best ... and see that Medical Profession continues to give its best to society and see that people should realize that too much of involvement in Medical Administration is to the disadvantage of people and society in general.
